Remember those career assessments in high school? Do you remember what your "ideal" job was? Was it something that you actually pursued? Or did you think the assessment was crazy, like me?
I decided to go to culinary school, worked in the hospitality industry in various leadership roles.
At one point, I was responsible for teams in remote locations of Alaska which reminded me of the "Ice Road Trucker" TV series. This triggered an inner feeling of wanting to explore the open road.
I left a job that I really enjoyed with the intention of an empty nester road trip around the country with my husband, Luna and Apollo (our Italian Greyhounds).
During a week of complete relaxation, reflecting and adjusting to an unplanned lifestyle, I was reflecting on my last week of work. I received many amazing ideas and ways to keep in touch including post cards, travel apps and an idea of a travel blog.
A light bulb went off! How about traveling the country as planned but, seeing it from window of a big rig, blog along the way and share with everyone.
Some may think I am crazy but, I think it was the God given moment to take the leap. Not only did I take a leap to leave my corporate position as Vice President but, I am also taking on the challenge of obtaining my Commercial Drivers License (CDL-A) to drive a semi-truck over the road.
I hope to inspire other women to join me on the road with encouragement and practical information related to everything truck driving including suggestions on how to get your CDL-A, what it is like driving, how to keep healthy on the road and of course some beauty tips along the way.
Oh, by the way... my assessment suggested I should be a truck driver. It’s amazing how things come full circle sometimes. I am now the "Modern Lady Trucker”
